Imagine having your life dedicated to global adventure and exploration through the lens of the camera. Now imagine falling off a tall stone wall in Italy, fracturing your body. What do you do now?

For David DuChemin, it was years of rehab and pain. He pivoted his work towards more on-line courses and sales and he continued leading photographic tours. But eventually the pain was just too much and he decided to have his leg amputated.

David shares how the amputation has paradoxically made him feel more ‘abled’ than he ever was before. He now engages in activities he once thought impossible, from hiking to running through airports with camera gear in tow. His perspective on disability is refreshing; he believes that labels can limit our potential and that embracing challenges can lead to greater creativity and fulfillment.

My first interview with David can be found here. It focuses on his injury and recovery and lays the groundwork for this extraordinary conversation.

Come, be inspired, as David shares that “disability” is just a word, not his reality.
