The Best Podcasts of 2022: On Authenticity

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.

– C.G. Jung

What is authenticity and why does it matter?

In my mind, authenticity is when your heart, soul and mind align and your life reflects that alignment. The outside pressures and temptations of the world peel away because you have found your truth. It’s an internal truth, not one dictated by those around you or the mores of society. To find it often means stripping away the false selves we’ve created in response to trauma, the need to please, to achieve or to the need to fit in.

The path to authenticity can be both frightening and demanding because it demands absolute truth. But it is said that the truth will set you free, and there is a lot of wisdom in that. Authenticity leads to living a meaningful life, true to you and to the world around you.

Nearly all my guests touch upon the idea of authenticity, because it’s key to their navigating their life path. WIth the holidays upon us, perhaps it’s time for all of us to reflect on who we are and where we are going. Here are three powerful stories about finding authenticity.
